Music Mailer: August 2019
"Music in itself is healing. No matter what culture we're from, everyone loves music." -Billy Joel
We’ve almost made it to the end of summer! Is everyone staying cool out there? Here at the academy, we’ve got several ways to beat the heat and have fun while doing so! Recently, our friends Oh Antonio and His Imaginary Friends hosted a super fun sing-along, which was such a great time that we will be hosting more throughout the rest of the year. You can listen to some of the songs we played on our Facebook page.
We are also working hard to offer more lessons on even more instruments as we move into the busy fall months. Over the next few newsletters we will be featuring some of the new awesome teachers joining our school, and you may have the chance to meet them in person at our upcoming Open House! (Date/Time TBD)
As always, you can also catch a glimpse of the music that’s happening elsewhere in town this month. Notably, the Imaginary Friends have a show on Saturday August 18th with a band all the way from Austria. Talk about a blend of cultures!
Want to get in on the fun? Visit our website for information on how to sign up for lessons.
Sincerely,
Matt & Stevie
Cory Blais – Cello
We’re excited to welcome Cory to our school! Originally from Ohio, Cory moved to Austin with a Bachelors of Music and obained his Masters in Cello Performance from the University of Texas. Like many of our teachers, he is currently a freelance musician; outside of teaching, you can find him performing with his three-piece band Wundertrio!
On Saturday, July 13th, we were joined by special guests Oh Antonio and His Imaginary Friends–along with several members of the community–to sing some classic movie tunes. It was a blast, and we had such fun that we want to hold more sing-alongs! Keep your eyes peeled for our next (spooky-themed) event, and follow us on Facebook to stay up to date on all of our fun, family-friendly activities!
